Invented doesn’t wallop you right away like hit-stuffed records of Jimmy Eat World’s past, but it’s not the middling Chase This Light either, and that’s a blessing. It’s the kind of record that creeps up on you, and even though I haven’t had the time yet to fully appreciate it, I’m fairly confident Invented might just be one of the better records of the year when all is said and done. Rachel Haden has a lovely guest spot on “Coffee and Cigarettes,” one of the album’s highlights.
