Givers is a five-piece indie pop outfit from Cajun country in Lafayette, Louisiana but their sound is about all bubblegum and Vampire Weekend-esque world music-influenced pop. In Light is their debut album and dropped this past June but I’m just now getting a chance to hear it and it is some seriously fabulous stuff, particularly if you like the aforementioned VW, Local Natives, Ra Ra Riot, etc. The secret weapon is in Taylor Guarisco and Tiffany Lamson’s dueling boy-girl harmonies, and also the fact that hooks like the one on “Ceilings of Plankton” come so easily to them.
