Nurses – Fever Dreams

I go through blogs, release calendars, artist submissions and plenty of word-of-mouth to get around to as much music as quickly as possible. But even then it’s impossible to hit everything; stuff falls through the cracks, work particularly slams me one week, or a release schedule gets unusually packed around a certain time. Whatever the case, it’s pretty awesome to have a girlfriend like the one I do to watch my back, not to mention one who shares nearly the same tastes as I do, something I would have thought hopeless a couple years ago (indie pop? check. prog rock? check. electro? check. dirty, dirty dubstep? CHECK). It’s nice to be surprised by a band like Nurses, who I totally missed on Pitchfork when their debut came out but whom my girl turned me onto a few days ago. “Fever Dreams” is the lead track off sophomore record Dracula, due out Sept. 20. RIYL Grizzly Bear, a poppier Animal Collective, maybe some Yeasayer in there.
