Dr. Trout – Legend of the Bass
Being a roommate to someone who loves electronic music, particularly that off the wall-thumping variety, can suck. Luckily, Dr. Trout (aka USC graduate and San Fran native Ryan Loomba) was not an average college roommate, and “Legend of the Bass” is just one of the many reasons why. It’s nice to see all those hours tinkering with subsonic bass and 4 Lokos leading into The Big Tuna EP, which just came out on Beatport last week on Big Alliance Records. Check it out if you like electro house – the Trout has a gift for melody paired with significant amounts of wub a la Mord Fustang. His second EP comes out this week – look for an update on it later this week!
Dr. Trout – “Legend of the Bass”

I love this track!! One thing though: all aspects of the track sound extremely professional EXCEPT the keyboard melody… the sound is a little cheesy (Disney’s Pocohontus?) and take away from the quality of the bass and drums. Maybe tell your roommate to try experimenting with another keyboard sound/instrument for the melodies. Other than that, keep up the good work!
Deeznutz,
Thanks for your comments. If you check out my facebook page at facebook.com/dr.troutmsuic, I’ve got more tracks where I’ve actually experimented with different sounding melodies.
