Dirty Disco Youth & Fukkk Offf – Nuclear War

By , January 13, 2012 10:00 am

New collaboration between Dim Mak artist Dirty Disco Youth and fellow Euro Fukkk Offf. Tight, mechanical electro with a fat bassline and a martial drumbeat that I love.

Felguk & Dirtyloud – Nudge

By , December 16, 2011 10:00 am

Brazilian producers unite! Felguk is a duo from Rio de Janeiro who specialize in some grinding, bass-heavy electro. Dirtyloud is another Brazilian duo that I’ve posted on this site before. Together, they make beautiful music. Happy weekend everybody.

Zeds Dead – Ruckus The Jam

By , December 9, 2011 10:00 am

New electro house feast from Canadian stars Zeds Dead. No one works harder than these guys, I feel like they release a new track every month. And they never suck.

Kanye West – Can’t Tell Me Nothing (GRiZ Remix)

By , December 2, 2011 10:00 am

Fantastic electro house remix of a classic Kanye West track. GRiZ is a Detroit-based producer who has been beat-making since he was fourteen, with an emphasis on electro and dubstep sounds. What really stands out on his tracks, particularly in this remix, is his use of jazzy inflections (check out the sexy sax on this one) and a preference for funk and melody rather than just blasting you with filth. One of the better remixes of the year.

Candyland – Pirates (MitiS Remix)

By , November 25, 2011 10:00 am

Happy belated Thanksgiving! To get the party started right after the tryptophan wears off, I have two upcoming acts in the electro house/blog house scene for you: Candyland is an electro/dubstep duo from Santa Barbara with an innovative live show (see photo), and MitiS is a classically-trained pianist from the Pennsylvanian heartland who describes his blend of electro as the “new age Classical.” Not sure how Mozart would feel about that given the filthy sounds emanating from this remix, but who knows? Check out their Facebooks and show some emerging artists the love.

Death Cab for Cutie – Underneath the Sycamore (Dillon Francis Remix)

By , November 18, 2011 10:00 am

Well, I certainly didn’t see that drop at 1:32 coming in. Dillon Francis’ hard-charging electro take on the relatively tame “Under the Sycamore” is the latest in Death Cab for Cutie’s ongoing Codes and Keys remix EP, which will drop in its entirety at the end of November. Previous remix-ers have included RAC, Cut Copy and Yeasayer, but this is the first one I’ve heard that really takes things in a 180-degree turn from the original. Indeed, one unfamiliar with the song would be hard pressed to even recognize any Death Cab in this mix. Depending on one’s opinion of Codes and Keys, that might be a good thing…

Zedd – Shave It (Kaskade Remix)

By , November 11, 2011 10:00 am

It’s not often that house superstar Kaskade brings the filth to a party – the Mormon producer/DJ has always been more of an uplifting, house anthem kind of guy. But this remix of Zedd’s new track “Shave It” absolutely goes. Those synths are nothing to sneer at, and the remix as a whole boosts the song considerably. Give it a spin.

Dirtyloud – Trash House Music (Darth & Vader Remix)

By , November 4, 2011 10:00 am

Brazilian duo Dirtyloud have been around the electro scene for a while now, with various remixes and originals floating around the web. Fellow Brazilians and friends Darth & Vader, meanwhile, have been slowly making a name for themselves over the past couple of years with a number of slick remixes like this one, which gives a groovy, sleek feel to this standard electro house number. That bass grinds and slides in all the right ways – check out this original and this remix if you like Darth & Vader’s style.

Cold Blank – Redroid

By , October 28, 2011 10:00 am

A little dark ‘n tasty  treat from one of my favorite Los Angeles producers Cold Blank. Grimy synths buttress a lurching electro house jam that’s appropriate for any rave zombies. Happy Halloween weekend!

Dr. Trout – Olmec Speaks

By , October 21, 2011 10:00 am

Earlier this week I posted a track by my good friend and up-and-coming electro producer Dr. Trout, and not a week has gone by but the Bay Area native has released another two-song EP. The Magic Conch EP is newer material than last week’s The Big Tuna, and takes things to a whole new level. The bass is grimier, the synths are greasier, and the drops are fit for a Filthy Friday. Tough to pick between “Olmec Speaks” and the title track, but both serve up the goods – I prefer the former only slightly, courtesy of the “Legends of the Hidden Temple”-sample. Sweet, sweet childhood, how you’ve been warped. Check out Dr. Trout’s Beatport and support a new artist.

Far Too Loud – Ready For The Stomping

By , September 30, 2011 10:00 am

Far Too Loud is the cover name for U.K. electro producer Oli Cash, who has been busting out dance floor fillers since 2005. Hard charging electro with an emphasis on easy-on-the-ears melodies, “Ready For The Stomping” is perfect alcohol-fueled fare for the club set. Check it out if you like anything electro house.

Pretty Lights – I Know The Truth (Original Mix)

By , September 23, 2011 10:00 am

The filthy dubstep banger that Pretty Lights dropped way back this past June at Bonnaroo finally saw a original mix release earlier this week. I’ve been dying for a studio version of this ever since I saw the awesome video of his performance, and it delivers.
