Beef Theatre is a Austrian electro duo with a good sense of humor – their influences include “girls on the toilet” and that above photo is nothing short of priceless. Dumme Jungs is a slightly more well-known German duo that give this remix no mercy. It’s a good mix between car-alarm house and an in-your-face electro punch that reminds me a bit of StereoHeroes. Check them both out and support some rising European stars.

Slow week for me – starting to work on my year-end list and slogging through the last two finals of this oh-so-enjoyable first semester of law school. One of my favorite DJs, German producer Boys Noize, just released a compilation album of his best remixes from 2004-2011, and it’s a pretty killer collection. No matter the genre, Alexander Ridha manages to put his own unique spin on things, with that distinctive electro/techno spin Boysnoize Records has become known for. This reworking of Depeche Mode’s 1989 landmark “Personal Jesus” is a particular favorite, as I dig how it plays up the ominous undertones in the song with a sparse electronic backbeat and totally collapses in on itself near the end. Also throwing in a Justice remix because I love you.

Fantastic electro house remix of a classic Kanye West track. GRiZ is a Detroit-based producer who has been beat-making since he was fourteen, with an emphasis on electro and dubstep sounds. What really stands out on his tracks, particularly in this remix, is his use of jazzy inflections (check out the sexy sax on this one) and a preference for funk and melody rather than just blasting you with filth. One of the better remixes of the year.

Happy belated Thanksgiving! To get the party started right after the tryptophan wears off, I have two upcoming acts in the electro house/blog house scene for you: Candyland is an electro/dubstep duo from Santa Barbara with an innovative live show (see photo), and MitiS is a classically-trained pianist from the Pennsylvanian heartland who describes his blend of electro as the “new age Classical.” Not sure how Mozart would feel about that given the filthy sounds emanating from this remix, but who knows? Check out their Facebooks and show some emerging artists the love.

Well, I certainly didn’t see that drop at 1:32 coming in. Dillon Francis’ hard-charging electro take on the relatively tame “Under the Sycamore” is the latest in Death Cab for Cutie’s ongoing Codes and Keys remix EP, which will drop in its entirety at the end of November. Previous remix-ers have included RAC, Cut Copy and Yeasayer, but this is the first one I’ve heard that really takes things in a 180-degree turn from the original. Indeed, one unfamiliar with the song would be hard pressed to even recognize any Death Cab in this mix. Depending on one’s opinion of Codes and Keys, that might be a good thing…

It’s not often that house superstar Kaskade brings the filth to a party – the Mormon producer/DJ has always been more of an uplifting, house anthem kind of guy. But this remix of Zedd’s new track “Shave It” absolutely goes. Those synths are nothing to sneer at, and the remix as a whole boosts the song considerably. Give it a spin.

Brazilian duo Dirtyloud have been around the electro scene for a while now, with various remixes and originals floating around the web. Fellow Brazilians and friends Darth & Vader, meanwhile, have been slowly making a name for themselves over the past couple of years with a number of slick remixes like this one, which gives a groovy, sleek feel to this standard electro house number. That bass grinds and slides in all the right ways – check out this original and this remix if you like Darth & Vader’s style.

Appropriately filthy remix of a great Calvin Harris track from UK producer trio Millions Like Us. Just saw Calvin at the Encore Beach Club this past Sunday in Las Vegas and he absolutely killed it, although nothing he played upped the bass as much as this remix does.
Calvin Harris – “Flashback (Millions Like Us Remix)”

This track is a bit old but I haven’t been able to stop listening to it for the past few days . . . straight MACHINE music. Gtronic is a Belgium DJ who describes his music as “heavy bass thrash,” which is sort of accurate. French duo StereoHeroes, meanwhile, are to thanks for this absolutely ruthless remix.
Gtronic – “Iron Man (StereoHeroes Remix)”

Israeli filthstep expert Borgore dropped his new EP Delicious a few weeks back, and it’s about what you’d expect from the man: grinding synths, pounding bass, and lyrics that you can’t exactly bring home to your mother. Standard “gorestep,” in other words. But this Document One remix tacked onto the end of things takes things in a more house-y direction, although the breakdown is as filthy as ever.
Borgore – “Someone Elses ft. Adi Ulmansky (Document One Remix)”

House supergroup Swedish House Mafia (consisting of producer friends Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello) have already conquered the summer anthem landscape with rave hit “Save The World,” so it was only a matter of times before remixes flooded every corner of the net. Knife Party, the new club project by Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen have their way with the track, turning it into a vicious Afrojack-y car-alarm house banger. Enjoy!
Swedish House Mafia – “Save The World (Knife Party Remix)”

This track isn’t as immediately arresting as English producer DJ Fresh’s 2010 smash “Gold Dust,” but this remix has one of the gnarliest drops I’ve heard all year courtesy of dubstep giants Flux Pavilion and Doctor P. Simply unrelenting and a proper summer anthem.
