WU LYF – Cave Song

By , June 16, 2011 11:00 am

WU LYF, or World United Lucifer Youth Foundation as they would tell you, have done about as good a job at creating buzz as any band in the blogosphere era can do: declining interviews, mysterious press releases/photos, and a general lack of not giving a shit about anything about creating music. And music this is, quite purely: singer Ellery Roberts is of the Jonsi school of vocalists, generally shouting out nonsense in a visceral howl rather than saying anything the average mammal can decipher. But that just places the emphasis on the music on debut album Go Tell Fire to the Mountain, which is powerful and anthemic in the best way. Kind of reminds me a bit of Cymbals Eat Guitars and Titus Andronicus.

Big Boi – Tangerine ft. T.I. & Khujo Goodie

Gettin’ my thug on with the 5th (!) single from Big Boi’s offensively good new album, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty. Tangerines truly are the American Dream. Flying back from my NYC vacation tomorrow so more frequent updates on the way (hey Robin how bout you post something).
